Drum machines are machines that perfectly mimic the sounds of drums and other percussion instruments. Musicians and producers like to use drum machines when they need a rhythmic backbeat in many different forms of music including jazz, salsa, hip-hop, pop, and so much more! A drum machine only looks like a small box with buttons and wheels placed strategically along it. By turning the wheels and pressing the buttons, one can make a number of different beats and sounds come out of the box.

The drum machine can be dated back as early as 1930 when they were known as rhythm machines. But drum machines as we know them today started in the 1970s. These machines could be programmed so that drumming patterns could be played by either simply pressing a button or using a step sequence. Today, they’ve evolved from so much more than even that. Today drum machine software can be made to include many different drum loops and drum sounds.

Online drum machines are now becoming extremely popular and make it easy for anyone who even dabbles in producing to become a mixing master. These online programs are preprogrammed with very simple sequences that you can change, mix, and loop over each other in any manner you want. These programs are actually so easy that you could end up with a really hot piece of music at the end – totally by accident! Drum machines certainly have a come a very long way in making music easier than ever before!
